Rolling soundscapes from NYC
Hey Dan. How are you today?
I’m goood. Coming off a super fun weekend playing with the Ladiez Drink Free crew at Bossa Nova Civic club. Wicked night!
What was the last song you listened to?
I think it was the closer at the party actually haha - “Has it Come to This” by The Streets.
Where’s your favourite place to listen to music?
Honestly love sitting on my couch with the home stereo going. .
What’s your favourite music discovery you’ve made recently?
So obsessed with this Kevin McKormick album I heard a few months back - so lush and beautiful
Is there an artist or album you listen to a lot we might not expect based on your music and mixes?
Spirit of Eden by Talk Talk
Can you tell us a little about your Theory Therapy mix? What were you feeling when you made it? Where did you record it?
I cut this at home on a mellow Friday night - glass of wine, a little palo santo burning, lights down low. Really been a hectic few weeks for me so it was perfect timing to make something slow and soothing.
Where would you recommend listening to it?
I think it’s a nice one for the post-club chill out or a long drive through the woods.
Theory Therapy mixes are about sharing the music that you personally find therapeutic, cathartic or restorative. What does that mean for you?
I think healing and restoration can be pretty open ended. Sometimes it’s something that pushes you out of your headspace a bit to reach a little further out there, sometimes it’s a moment of repose and calm, maybe there’s other reads I’m not even thinking of! For me I tried to reach a space of really meditative, shifting spaces that have a sense of movement but also feels sort of circular.
Is there a particular album or piece of music that you find yourself returning to for similar reasons?
I think it’s gotta be Pavilion of Dreams
Tell us something exciting that's coming up in your life, music or otherwise.
I’m honestly super stoked to be working with Theory Therapy on an upcoming record, and for some fun travel this summer.
