Aren't We Here To Experience Something We Haven't.
Theory Therapy 43 is by the Russian-born artist Alexandra Zakharenko aka Perila. For me, there’s nobody capable of conveying the ephemeral beauty of the everyday quite like Sasha. Her music and mixes are a language beyond words.
We’re so pleased to finally welcome her on to the Theory Therapy series with this very special mix entitled “Aren't We Here To Experience Something We Haven't”.
How are you today?
I’m good, keep grounding in the space, blooming hermit spirit in my new home.
Can you tell us a little bit about the mix? What were you feeling when you made it?
I made it for my room, my new world I currently live in. The space I created already changing me in a feedback and I’m so grateful to have it and dig deeper the ocean of self here disappearing from the world. Soundscape for the air of the space, the way sound travels here filling the whole is a very special acoustic experience. Suspended threshold where body and mind meet the surroundings and the interaction happens by itself. I wanted to make a mix to indulge horizontally on the floor while the sounds evaporate around you. The recording is an ode to new spaces which shape us.
Where did you record the mix?
Inside my room.
Where would you recommend listening to it?
Airy spacious empty cozy zones anywhere your body feels comfortable to let go and dissolve in a soundscape.
Are there any tracks you’ve used in the mix that are special or significant to you?
They are all pretty special and in dialogue with each other.
Theory Therapy mixes are about sharing the music that you personally find therapeutic and restorative. What does that mean for you?
Healing quality of sound is my primary interest and point of research and I want to learn more about it through continuing my practice and sharing it with others.
Is there a particular album or piece of music that you find yourself returning to for tranquillity?
Harold Budd - Agua
What do you have planned for the rest of the year?
I have a lot of ideas, plans and projects I really want to work on but mainly sustaining, feeding and gardening the flow to keep it all going in balance and harmony, taking care of self and others and escaping into nature whenever I can.
